What is your name and position?
My name is David Turner and I am the Development Practice Manager.
What branch are you based in?
2020 Opticians Queen Street in Edinburgh.
What's the best thing about your job?
My team. Without them, we could not deliver the service we provide. I have a diverse, multi-talented group that work extremely well with the client base in Queen Street.
How long have you worked for Duncan and Todd Group?
I've worked for the group for 7 years.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I am a music fanatic. I love going to gigs, and collecting vinyl and I like playing guitar.
How has your career progressed since working here?
Throughout my time with the group, I have undertaken a few different roles. Starting off as practice manager I worked my way up to Regional Development Manager for a period. Between the role growth and a new family, I stepped back into the store as Practice Development Manager. Undertaking internal courses I have managed to grow in self-confidence and share certain techniques with my team.
What do you like most about working for Duncan and Todd Group?
Several things. The senior team is extremely supportive and always listens and takes on board any ideas.
Being in the Flagship store I love the fact we can seek out new brands. Recently supported a local brand 'Hemp' - we love their ethos.
What's your top tip for retail?
Service - This covers the vast majority of what we do daily. It starts with the welcome and ends with the goodbye. We try to provide a slick service from the minute a customer enters the shop. COVID has helped us tailor this too much more efficient delivery.
