Optical Lab Technician - Aberdeen
Main purpose of the role:
To surface and glaze lenses to a predetermined RX into frames chosen by the patient.
Lab techs would normally be placed into one of the following departments: Glazing, Surfacing or Coating.
Core Responsibilities
Accurately read and understand the lens and frame specifications noted on the prescriptions received.
Glaze lenses into frames, working accurately and carefully to minimise errors or accidents which may result in unnecessary wastage.
Surface lenses to the correct rx.
Learn all aspects of the Coating process.
Undertake regular checks of all laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order; make minor repairs as necessary under the guidance and supervision of the Line Manager.
Follow all Lab Quality procedural instructions and follow them as instructed and assisting in ongoing improvement by raising awareness of potential procedure improvements.
Seek to resolve technical problems as they arise, referring to the line Manager as necessary.
Maintain a high standard of work according to the QA system and British Standards
Follow all Company Health and Safety procedures
Maintain good working relationships with all other staff, both within the laboratory and in the wider organisation.
Maintain a tidy work space and assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory as a whole.
Any other duties as required to assist in the smooth running of the laboratory.
Help in development of all Trainee Technicians when required.
