Job Overview

The Head of Clinical Excellence will be responsible for overseeing the clinical standards of both clinical and non clinical staff and offices/branches, ensuring compliance and professional standards are embedded cross the group.

You will provide independent representation for the clinical professional team at D&T and to advise the group board and champion our clinical excellence values in pursuit of leadership position in secondary care.

You will provide guidance and support to the clinical professionals ensuring that all clinical standards are met. The role holder will have responsibility for a small team, one permanent direct report and the rest of the Clinical Excellence Team when they are assigned to Clinical Excellence activity. This includes Lead clinicians and Optical Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing clinical supervision for staff ensuring the provision of ongoing education and training
  • Ensure clinical equipment is fit for purpose, to support compliance, professional standards and supports our Clinical Excellence leadership values
  • Ensure clinical processes, systems and ways of working support compliance, professional standards and supports our Clinical Excellence leadership value
  • Represents clinical staff in all matters, morale, professional development, operating conditions
  • Ensure clinical team are engaged and informed about company strategy and plans
  • Keep up to date and advise the board in advance of any changes to clinical requirements or developments
  • Represent D&T on all clinical bodies. E.g. Optometry Scotland
  • Support Clinical staff recruitment
  • Champion Pre-reg and students onboarding and support
  • Suggest commercial developments in the clinical arena
  • Advise retail management and represent clinical team on agreeing updated customer journey blueprints
  • Ensuring all staff in the group meet our clinical standards in Ways of working, branch standards and customer experience.
