Maintenance Engineer

Job Overview
The Maintenance Engineer will provide maintenance to all equipment situated at our Kirkhill lab in Dyce, Aberdeen.
Core Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults
- Diagnose breakdown problems
- Fitting of new parts and testing to make sure equipment functions correctly
- Carry out quality inspection on recent repairs
- Liaise with department staff on any equipment issues
- Arrange specialist procurements of fixture, fittings or components
- Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment
- Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
- Dealing with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs
- Improving health and safety procedures where identified
- Working knowledge of all lab equipment including specialised machines (full training will be provided for specialist equipment).
- Maintaining and managing conveyor systems to maximise flow and production
- Ensure daily calibration of all operational equipment of where required
- Ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns
- Maintain good working relationships with all other staff, both within the department and in the wider organisation.
- Maintain and develop good working relationships with external customers, acting as an ambassador for the Company at all times.
- Any other duties as required to assist in the smooth running of the manufacturing division.
Working Hours:
Working hours are 40 hours per week. Minimising downtime may require working unsociable hours including weekends, nights or early mornings. Hours will be self-managed to ensure production flows at an optimum level.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant academic background
- Recognised mechanical background
- City and Guilds, SCOTVEC or NVQ qualifications
- Previous experience in a repair & maintenance position is desirable, and full maintenance training of specialist equipment will be provided.
