Using the latest technology we offer an enhanced eye exam - Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) which is a quick, painless scan, with countless benefits for your eyesight as well as your health.

OCT scans are recommended for those aged 25 or over, who want to know more about their eye health, or have diabetes, glaucoma, or have family history of eye disease. The layers at the back of the eye can be difficult to see with standard equipment. An OCT scan displays vibrant colour pictures of these ultra-thin membranes. £15 additional cost applies.

Excellent service. I live in Livingston, West Lothian and I have been attending James Hughes for the past 30 years and the service that they have provided is excellent and the staff give so much care. My test was done by Irina and she's excellent and took her time and explained everything to me in great detail. Thank you Irina. I’ve been going to this opticians forever! My 2 yearly eye test was due. Booked an appointment online and also changed to an earlier time online. Taken immediately when I arrived. Appointment took around 30 minutes and the optician was very thorough, kind and helpful. My Prescription hasn’t changed so I didn’t need new glasses. I did get eye drops for my dry eyes. All good. Will definitely be going back again. Thank you x
